The Mayfly Project – Mentoring Foster Children

Through Fly Fishing

About the Mayfly Project

The Mayfly Project is a 501(c)(3) national organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor and support children in foster care. The Mission of The Mayfly Project is to support children in foster care through fly fishing and introduce them to their local water ecosystems, with a hope that connecting them to a rewarding hobby will provide an opportunity for foster children to have fun, build confidence, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Community Event & Raffle partnered with R.L. Winston Rod Co.

Last Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th, AZ Fly Shop hosted Winston Days to put as many Winston rods in the hands of our community as possible and raise awareness and support of the Mayfly Project.  The event Kick-Off was a Friday night Meet and Greet with Winston Representative sharing the details in the production of Winston rods and a rod of choice to be donated as a raffle prize to raise support for the Mayfly Project.

The Mayfly Project is just getting off the ground in Phoenix with a Project launch just beginning.  The local leadership is in need of mentors to participate . . . How to get started, go to the website, learn more, apply to be a mentor, and/or donate.  Visit their website to learn more and become a Mentor

On Saturday we spent the day in the park casting Winston rods, meeting new friends, and Q&A with the Pro.  Over the course of 2 days, we raised $1,200 in raffle tickets and during the Facebook live drawing announced the WINNER, Steve Martin of a Winston of choice.  Congratulations Steve and to the 80+ individuals that participated in taking a positive step in the lives of foster children through the Mayfly Project.  Thank you Winston Rod Co. for your generosity and the AZ Fly Shop community for making this meaningful event a success.  More to come on the Mayfly Project in Phoenix . . . What a great way to be a YES in the lives of foster children, doing what you love and sharing the gift of that experience.  Stay hooked!
