Mogollon Rim Lakes

This month should be just right for fishing the Mogollon rim lakes. We experienced a warmer than usual October which has delayed the amazing still-water fishing the rim usually experiences this time of the year. Don’t be discouraged! For the rim lakes having a float tube or a pontoon is a game changing variable that allows anglers unmatched access. I love having a great roll casting rod/line combo. 5 or 6 weights of choice with a heavier WF line would be ideal. A longer rod also makes carrying line over the water easier while sitting lower in a tube/boat. For bugs – try leeches, buggers, and other small streamers on the retrieve, or an indicator set up with a combination of nymphs, chironomids or balanced leeches.
