Community Member Spotlight
Kevin Erwin
Whether hiking into the back country, hunting for trout, or traveling to some new salt water destination, in a foreign country. Fly fishing usually involves some kind of adventure. I have come to love sharing the adventures of fly fishing with other like minded people. This months community member spotlight is obviously up for the adventure. I got to spend a week with him in Cuba, and the week was filled with lots of new adventures. Trying to make accurate casts in strong wind, to spooky fish, a foreign culture, and meeting lots of new people. Kevin Erwin was a delight to share the adventure with. He always kept a positive attitude, was very willing to share his adventurous days others, and is a true gentleman to spend time with.
It is an honor to introduce Kevin Erwin as our May 2026 Community Member Spotlight.

About Kevin Erwin
This May, we’re thrilled to spotlight Kevin Erwin, a vibrant and adventurous member of our fly fishing community. In just two years since picking up a fly rod, Kevin has already made his mark—not just through skill and enthusiasm, but through a generous willingness to share the journey with others.
Ask Kevin about his most memorable fly fishing moment and you’ll hear about a recent trip to Cuba—a week immersed in turquoise waters, pursuing diverse species with a crew of fellow anglers. For Kevin, fly fishing isn’t just about the catch—it’s about the stories, the camaraderie, and those unforgettable landscapes that etch themselves into your memory.
Each outing, he says, brings “different challenges and surprises,” with something “a little bit spiritual” to carry home. Whether it’s a big trip or a local getaway, Kevin approaches every experience with reverence and curiosity.
A regular face around AZ Fly Shop, Kevin credits the shop with being an essential part of his fly fishing journey—offering not only gear and advice but also a sense of belonging. “It wouldn’t be the same without the shop and its welcoming crew,” he shares.
His advice? “Tip those guides well—they’ll hook you up!”
Kevin, thanks for reminding us that adventure is always better when shared. See you on the water!
