WHAT’S HAPPENING AT

The Friendliest Fly Shop In The World

5TH ANNUAL CARP RALLY

The 5th Annual Valley of the Sun Carp Rally was one for the books! Despite heavy rainstorms rolling through the Valley in the 24 hours leading up to — and even during — the event, dozens of determined anglers showed up ready to compete, connect, and celebrate Arizona’s favorite urban fly-fishing challenge.

From 10 a.m. on September 27th to 10 a.m. on September 28th, teams fished tirelessly across canals, ponds, and backwater stretches, chasing the elusive and powerful common carp. What started as a soggy, storm-soaked morning quickly turned into an unforgettable 24-hour adventure filled with laughter, teamwork, and some serious fish stories.

Grit, Rain, and Resilience

If there’s one thing the Arizona fly-fishing community is known for, it’s resilience — and this year’s rally proved it. Anglers battled fluctuating water clarity, rising levels, and constant rain showers that would have kept most people indoors. Instead, participants leaned into the challenge, navigating muddy banks and slick canal paths with rods in hand and smiles on their faces.

Even under tough conditions, the competition brought out the best of what the Carp Rally represents: perseverance, camaraderie, and the shared love of sight-fishing for one of the strongest fish that swims in our desert waters.

Big Fish & Big Comebacks

This year’s Largest Fish award went to TaaccoAvnchr (Jaime & Arthur), who landed an impressive 43.5-inch carp — a true desert giant! Their victory was especially meaningful, as the duo placed second in the same category last year. Determined to claim the top spot in 2025, they returned with focus and grit, proving that persistence pays off.

Meanwhile, the Most Fish Caught title went to Canal Creepers (Niko & Josh), who brought in an incredible 16 fish during the 24-hour window. Like TaaccoAvnchr, Canal Creepers were also last year’s runners-up in their category — making this year’s win a powerful redemption story for both teams.

Community, Camaraderie, and Carp

The Valley of the Sun Carp Rally isn’t just about competition — it’s about community. The event continues to bring together anglers of all ages and backgrounds who share a passion for fly-fishing Arizona’s overlooked, hard-fighting fish. From first-timers to veterans, everyone walked away with wet waders, great memories, and maybe a new appreciation for fishing in the rain.

As the sun broke through the clouds on Sunday morning, weary but smiling anglers gathered to swap stories, show photos, and celebrate another successful year of the Rally.

Congratulations to all the participants, and a special thank-you to everyone who braved the weather and made this year’s event such a success.

Here’s to another year of adventure, community, and carp — we’ll see you next fall for the 6th Annual Valley of the Sun Carp Rally!

FLY FISHING FILM TOUR EVENT

Fly Fishing Film Tour 2025 — A Night to Remember!

The Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) returned to the Valley in unforgettable fashion this year, hosted at the beautiful Moon Valley Country Club. With a sold-out crowd of 250 attendees, the evening brought together anglers, families, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts from across Arizona for one of the most exciting community gatherings of the year.

The atmosphere buzzed with energy as guests arrived — rods in hand, raffle tickets ready, and hearts full of love for the sport that brings us all together. This year’s lineup of films took viewers on a journey through breathtaking waters and inspiring stories from across the globe, celebrating the art, adventure, and conservation spirit of fly fishing.

An Evening of Purpose and Passion

While the films captivated the crowd, the true highlight of the night was the shared mission behind it all: supporting conservation in Arizona. Through the incredible generosity of our community, sponsors, and attendees, we raised over $18,000 for Wildlife for Tomorrow — funds that directly benefit Arizona Game & Fish Department projects to protect our state’s fish, wildlife, and wild places.

This year’s event also featured an impressive silent auction with 45+ unique items, including guided trips, premium gear, art, apparel, and local experiences. From Patagonia packs to custom rods, the auction tables stayed lively all evening — and every bid helped support conservation right here at home.

Community at Its Best

Beyond the fundraising and films, the F3T is always about connection — a place where old friends reunite and new ones are made. The room was filled with laughter, stories, and the unmistakable spirit of Arizona’s fly-fishing community. From first-time film tour guests to long-time members of AZ Fly Shop, everyone left with full hearts and renewed excitement for the season ahead.

The evening was made possible by the dedication of AZ Fly Shop, our sponsors, volunteers, and the many community members who helped bring it all to life. Together, we proved once again that when anglers unite around a cause, the impact reaches far beyond the water.

A Huge Thank You

To everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, or volunteered — thank you for making the 2025 Fly Fishing Film Tour a resounding success. Your passion fuels both the sport we love and the wild places we cherish.

We can’t wait to see you next year for another evening of films, friendship, and fundraising for the future of Arizona’s waters.

Together, we’re keeping the stoke alive — on and off the water.
