Special Events – October 2022

Thank you for joining us for the 2nd Annual Valley of the Sun Carp Rally!

The 2022 Carp Rally was on September 23rd and awards/in shop activities on Saturday the 24th. This event is chasing Grass and Common Carp from the beginner to advanced level, registration was online as either a team or a sponsorship that included a team. This year we limited the teams to 25 maximum. These teams picked up their landing mats at AZ Fly Shop at 10 am on Friday the 23rd and there was open fishing till 10 am on Saturday.  Each Team reported directly to the shop from the catch and release location. We recognize the team (2 participants) that caught the “Most Fish” and the “Biggest Fish” for the event at our FB live event. Our winning teams received $2,000+ in prizes each and will be displayed in the shop for years to come as the 2022 Winners.

Congratulations to “SRP Swim Club” Trent Shenefield & Jenny Heekin as our Biggest Fish Winners at a whopping 37.5 inches. And congratulations to  “Team Ramrod” Craig Day & Nathan Unrein as our ” Most Fish” Winners with 4 carp.

While attending the celebration event, the community was served BBQ by Casting for Recovery and was able to visit with the Product Representatives from Scott, Abel, Sage, Ross, Echo, Rio, Fishpond, Firehole, Loon, and more. What an amazing vibe to be there, feel the energy and passion for fly fishing, and comradery with one another. This is why we opened AZ Fly Shop to be a place for the community to come together, meet one another, and have available the best equipment the sport offers!
