What does fly fishing mean to you? What about fly fishing offers you most satisfaction?

I have a very hard time quieting my mind. I’m always busy. I’m terrible at yoga because I start watching the clock five minutes in. Fly fishing is the only thing that I get that Zen from. Where I’m just watching my fly and not really thinking of anything else. Plus, it takes you to beautiful places.

What does having AZ Fly Shop in the community mean to you? What do you like about AZ Fly Shop?

I am fairly new to Arizona and everyone at AZ Fly Shop has welcomed me into the fly fishing community. They’ve shared favorite fishing spots and given me tips on species that were new to me like carp and suckers. It’s also been a great place to meet other people to fish with.

Tell us your most memorable fly fishing story

This was probably the first fish I ever caught on Silver Creek in Idaho. I was out at sunrise. It was a beautiful morning. We were floating. Baetis were coming off. I was watching a pod feeding and spent probably 20 minutes casting to them. I hooked into a really nice brown. It’s a very technical stream so I guess I felt like I could finally call myself a fly fisherwoman!

Is there any advice or quotes that you feel everyone should hear?

Probably John Muir, “And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul.”

Is there anything else you would like to add or share with the community?

Tight lines!
