With the hope that connecting them to a rewarding hobby will provide an opportunity for foster children to have fun, build confidence, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.
The program, in its simplest form, is to teach less fortunate kids how to fly fish. But when you dive a little bit deeper, we are trying to inspire a new generation of outdoor stewards who may not have guardians in their life to point them in the right direction. The program teaches kids fundamentals of conservation, like the dangers of aquatic invasive species, why catching and releasing is essential, how to properly handle fish to ensure they have a higher chance of survival and the importance of clean rivers. While working on the program, the kids tend to build self-confidence as well as a love for the nature that surrounds our outings.
