White Mountain Lakes
June brings tons of phenomenal opportunities for superb fly fishing in the White Mountains. The deep snowpack we’ve enjoyed this year throughout most of the west has pushed back the timing of our prime river and stream conditions by over a month. Good news is the abundance of water will extend the time frame of favorable fishing conditions this year. Better yet, the time to go is “NOW”. The still waters have already been fishing well, and stripping streamers like AZ Simi Seal Leeches in black/red and olive/green have been picking up nice fish. These still-water fisheries include lakes like Becker, Big Lake, Horseshoe Lake and Reservation Lake. Fishing an indicator rig with the top fly being a red, green or gray chironomid pattern (Jumbo Juju Chironomid) with a Balanced leech pattern as the bottom fly is also super effective.
