She also sits on the Board of Directors for Wildlife for Tomorrow, an organization dedicated to supporting conservation, education, and outdoor heritage across Arizona.
There are countless ways Marsha could choose to spend her time and energy, and countless causes she could support. What stands out is her commitment to being a steady, passionate voice for conservation—working to ensure that Arizona’s wildlife and outdoor experiences remain accessible for generations to come.
Beyond her leadership roles, Marsha has been a strong supporter of our events at AZ Fly Shop. Her presence, encouragement, and commitment to the community have made a meaningful impact, and we’re incredibly grateful for her continued support.

About John French
At AZ Fly Shop, our community is built on more than just fishing—it’s built on people. This month, we’re proud to highlight someone who embodies that spirit in every sense: Marsha Petrie Sue.
With over 15 years of fly fishing experience, Marsha brings both passion and perspective to the water. But like many of us, her journey didn’t start perfectly—and that’s exactly what makes it so memorable.
Marsha recalls one of her favorite fly fishing moments during a visit to a friend’s ranch in Colorado. What began as a lesson in a field—where flies seemed to find every weed and grasshopper imaginable—quickly turned into something special once they made their way to the water. Suddenly, everything clicked. Casts became smoother, confidence grew, and fish started hitting. It was a simple but powerful reminder: sometimes the best moments come after a little laughter, patience, and trust in the process.
For Marsha, fly fishing is the perfect balance of peace and purpose. It’s a way to unwind, connect with nature, and occasionally bring something home for the table—but more than anything, it’s about the joy of fishing itself. As she puts it, she simply loves to fish—anything, with anything, anytime.
Beyond the water, Marsha plays a meaningful role in Arizona’s outdoor community. Her perspective reflects a deep appreciation for what fly fishing—and places like AZ Fly Shop—represent. To her, the shop is more than a retail space. It’s a hub where people come together to learn, share stories, and support one another. It’s a place where beginners feel welcomed, seasoned anglers exchange knowledge, and a shared love for the outdoors creates lasting connections.
She also recognizes the broader impact, highlighting the importance of partnerships that support conservation and responsible angling. Through collaboration with organizations like Arizona Game and Fish, Marsha sees firsthand how this community helps protect and preserve the resources we all cherish—for both today’s anglers and the next generation.
When asked what advice she would share, her answer is simple—and powerful:
“Keep a positive attitude. It may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.”
It’s a line that feels especially fitting for fly fishing—and for life.
Marsha, thank you for your energy, your leadership, and your unwavering positivity. You remind us why we do what we do, and why this community continues to grow stronger every day.
We’re grateful to have you as part of the AZ Fly Shop family.
