We’re bringing something a little different to our hosted travel lineup for 2027.

The AZ Fly Shop Costa Rica Couples Adventure has been built specifically for anglers who want an incredible fishing trip without asking their partner to spend an entire week waiting for them to get back from the boat.

Instead, this trip combines Costa Rica’s legendary Pacific Coast fishing with beaches, wildlife, rainforest adventures, incredible meals and plenty of experiences to enjoy together.

Stay Beachfront in Flamingo

Our home for the week will be Bella Catalina, a seven-bedroom beachfront house in the Flamingo/Potrero area.

Each couple will have their own private king or queen bedroom, with the group sharing a beautiful beachfront property featuring:

  • Large swimming pool
  • Firepit and BBQ area
  • Beach directly behind the house
  • Easy access to Flamingo and nearby beaches
  • Private chef preparing meals throughout the week

Rather than everyone disappearing into separate hotel rooms after the day’s adventures, this trip gives us a place to come back together, relax, share dinner and enjoy Costa Rica as a group.

For the Anglers

Costa Rica gives us the opportunity to fish both nearshore and offshore fisheries during the same week.

Nearshore days will focus on species including:

Roosterfish • Cubera Snapper • Bluefin Trevally

We’ll fish aboard two boats, typically with two anglers per boat, allowing for plenty of individual fishing time.

Then everyone will have the opportunity to head offshore for a day targeting:

Sailfish • Marlin • Yellowfin Tuna • Mahi-Mahi

For the Non-Anglers

This isn’t a fishing trip with a few activities added as an afterthought.

While anglers are on the water, partners will have their own Costa Rican experiences built into the itinerary.

Think:

Monkey Sanctuary
Travel into the jungle for an immersive wildlife experience along Costa Rica’s famous “monkey trail.”

Beaches + Flamingo
Relax beside the private pool, enjoy the beach in the backyard or explore the Flamingo marina and surrounding beaches.

Volcano Adventure
Spend the day experiencing volcanic mud baths, hot springs, waterfalls and a canopy tour.

What’s not included:

  • International airfare, gratuities, personal expenses and alcohol outside of specifically included activities are not included.

Day 1 — Arrival in Flamingo
Arrive at Liberia International Airport (LIR) and transfer about one hour to Flamingo. Settle into your private king or queen room, then enjoy appetizers and dinner at the beachfront house.

Day 2 — Beach + Sunset Catamaran
Enjoy a relaxed morning at the house, pool, or nearby beaches before heading out on a 4-hour snorkeling and sunset catamaran cruise with open bar. Dinner is prepared back at the house.

Day 3 — Fishing or Monkey Sanctuary
Anglers enjoy a full day of nearshore fishing for roosterfish, cubera, and bluefin trevally. Non-anglers head into the jungle for an immersive monkey sanctuary tour. Everyone reunites for dinner.

Day 4 — Fishing or Relax & Explore
Another full day of nearshore fishing for anglers. Non-anglers can relax poolside, enjoy the beach, explore Flamingo, or add an optional local activity.

Day 5 — Rainforest Rafting Safari
The entire group heads inland for a gentle wildlife-focused rafting safari through the rainforest, with lunch served along the way before returning to Flamingo for dinner.

Day 6 — Offshore Fishing Day
Everyone has the opportunity to fish offshore together, targeting sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna, and mahi aboard two boats.

Day 7 — Fishing or Volcano Adventure
Anglers enjoy one final full fishing day while non-anglers experience a volcano adventure with mud baths, hot springs, a waterfall, and canopy tour.

Day 8 — Departure
Enjoy a final breakfast before transferring back to Liberia International Airport for your flight home.
