Your Support Sent Six Young Anglers to Fish Camp

One of the things we’re most proud of at AZ Fly Shop is the incredible community that surrounds our sport. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to sponsor six deserving young anglers to attend the 2026 Arizona Trout Unlimited Fish Camp—an experience that went far beyond learning how to fly fish.

Throughout the week, our scholarship recipients learned the fundamentals of fly fishing, conservation, and stewardship while building confidence and lifelong friendships. Returning camper Nolen Wyss continued developing his skills in fly tying, casting, and knot tying while catching eight fish throughout the week. For first-time campers like Atakl Rodrigues Cervantes and Danilo Neto, the opportunity was life-changing. Atakl shared his gratitude for everyone who made the experience possible, while Danilo celebrated catching his very first trout and discovering new waters with new friends.

For Aldo Solomon, Fish Camp was his introduction to fly fishing. By the end of the week, he had fallen in love with the sport and shared his dream of pursuing fisheries biology in college. Jayden Nguyen reflected on the friendships and mentors he found during camp, calling it “something I will never forget.” Perhaps the most powerful story came from Selman Krasniqi, who admitted he arrived believing fly fishing wasn’t for him. After just one week on the water, he left with a new passion, lasting friendships, and plans to return next summer.

These stories are exactly why we believe in investing in the next generation of anglers. Every dollar our community contributes creates opportunities for young people to discover the outdoors, learn the importance of conservation, and experience the mentorship that makes fly fishing so special.

To everyone who has supported our youth initiatives, attended our events, or donated along the way—thank you. Your generosity isn’t just helping kids attend camp; it’s helping shape the future of fly fishing in Arizona, one young angler at a time.
