Jon Perran
The fly fishing community is filled with amazing people and each community member has their own unique story. This month is no different.
Jon Perran is a career tennis pro, and has contributed to many lives through tennis. His first introduction to fly fishing was through a visit to AZ Fly Shop. Since that time, he has jumped right in. He says fly fishing has been a hobby that helps him stay connected with his son and grandchildren. I can totally relate, fly fishing has been a great way for me to connect with people in my life, it’s how my dad and I have spent countless hours together since I was 4 years old.
I am moved and inspired by know that AZ Fly Shop has been able to contribute to the lives of grand areas and grandchildren. Jon Perran is a gift to the world, and the fly fishing community is lucky to have him as a member.

What does fly fishing mean to you? What about fly fishing offers you most satisfaction?
Fly fishing has given me an avenue to connect with my grandkids. My father took me fishing often. We were not fly fishermen, Hey, nobody is perfect. I did not spend time with my son fishing but I am making up for it now with my son and the grandkids. We all talk a minimum of 4 times a week sharing tips, planning trips, and just bragging about who caught the biggest HOG. I am sure we have started a family tradition of fly fishing that I know the kids will pass down their children.

What does having AZ Fly Shop in the community mean to you? What do you like about AZ Fly Shop?
Jill and Chris of AZ Fly Shop were the people who got me started on this fly fishing journey. I am Jill’s tennis instructor and when they started the fly shop they invited me down to check it out and I have been hooked ever since. Any time I need fishing advice they are happy to lend a hand. Any time I go somewhere to fly fish I make sure I have some AZ Fly Shop logo gear on. It’s like having a VIP pass on. Everyone I come in contact with has a nice story to tell about Chris, Jill, and The Fly Shop. It is a great ice breaker to meet new friends.
