October 2023 Trip Recap:
Six full day chasing world record peacock bass, pampered with unbelievable service every step of the way. We were served 5-star gourmet food at every meal. In the pristine water of the Rio Marie fishing with 6-10in various baitfish patterns and poppers using 8, 9 and 10wt rods.
We arrived in Manaus, Brazil, the following day we flew 600 miles into the Amazonian Jungle on float plane. We were taken care of from the moment we landed in Manaus until we returned. The service and experience is the BEST I have ever had in my life. Can’t wait to go back next year in December.
Trip Highlights:
- Watching Rick South join the exclusive 20lb club with his 22.5lb beautiful peacock bass
- The experience of having the natives build a wooden grill and cook our catch from the morning for lunch was a standout meal
- I was pleasantly surprised to find that every evening we would have access take a hot shower in a beautiful air conditioned boat followed by a massage to make sure we were relaxed and ready for the next day

The river area is huge, encompassing nearly a vast amount of virgin waters, boasting the largest concentration of 20-pound Peacock Bass in the World. For anglers, this translates into very real opportunities to consistently hook and release much larger-than-average Peacock Bass on the fly.
Rio Marié is proven to hold the most remarkable average size of all peacock bass fisheries currently known to the angling world. The features that set this river system apart from all others are its remoteness, the natural characteristics of the river, its intact and perfectly functioning ecosystem, and the level of protection inside a designated Indian Territory that is almost totally un-impacted by modern man.
